Allentown-based folk musician and barista compiles Songs About Coffee album, featuring an international line-up of musicians

32-track compilation to raise funds for Allentown, PA’s first specialty coffee shop

Allentown, PA: Songs About Coffee is a thirty-two track compilation album all about everyone’s favorite caffeinated beverage. It features a diverse line-up of eclectic artists from around the world, from genres spanning from shoegaze to old-time to hip-hop. The album is compiled by Allentown’s Billy Mack, a barista and folk musician himself, who is using proceeds from the album to help fund Allentown’s very first specialty coffee shop, Coffee House Without Limits.

In anticipation of announcing the grand opening date of Coffee House Without Limits, Billy wanted to get folks excited in the best way he knows – through music and coffee.

“It’s a really cool comp. I’m really proud of all my friends. There’s such great variety in the album,” says Mack, a folk singer himself, “I really want CWOL (Coffee House Without Limits) to symbolize creativity for everyone all over the world and I’m hoping this new album will do just that, and hopefully inspire even more terrific music.”

The project contains thirty-two original songs contributed by GPP, Inspector 34, zekibird, Lou Styles, False Idols, Der GroDer große Guhl, Zaq Pariah, Sex Funeral, Teammates, Dreams of the Dead, Cloud Mine, Benn Rymon, Antwon Levee, Splitermite, Table Trash, Kurt Blindly, Tailpipe Distillery, Mocht the Only Ghouls, Tedd Hazard, Split Mind, Jim Guittard, Olivia Bellito, Fowl Weather, Destroy Nate Allen, Izzy and the Chimera, Cisco Binc, Cats Not Cops, Jacket Thor, Eugene Smith, Beau Hansen, Smoke Rain Abulia, Comrades and Billy Mack Collector. Some musicians on the compilation are making their recording debut, others are seasoned veterans of the music world. Overall the album provides a potpourri of musical styles that mimics the eclectic mix you’d expect to hear at a great coffee shop.

“Coffee and music go hand-in-hand,” says Dan Taylor, co-owner of Monocacy Coffee Co., a Bethlehem, PA-based specialty coffee roaster, “when Billy told us he was going to put together an album to raise some funds for his shop, we thought … ‘okay, cool.’ But this really is something else! This is more than just a project for the local crowd, it really is something coffee folk everywhere could enjoy.”

Records Without Limits, Mack’s own record label, will continue to release compilations featuring musicians of all genres and ages from all over the world in hopes of building a global community of positive thought and mutual support.

Every couple of months, Mack will announce release the theme of the next compilation via social media outlets and musicians will be encouraged to write a song and send it along to citywithoutlimits@gmail.com

“We encourage everyone to partner up with their friends and have a good time.” says Mack.
