ALLENTOWN, Pa. | At a time when Americans find themselves increasingly divided by politics, Lehigh Valley For All is urging community members to unite for a common cause — great food!
Lehigh Valley For All is hosting the inaugural Melting Pot-Luck from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 at Iglesia Jesuscristo Pentecostal. Foods that celebrate the region’s diversity will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged, but not required to bring and share food that reflects their own cultural roots.
“Republican or Democrat, Christian or Muslim, black or white – it doesn’t matter; Americans of all stripes enjoy a good meal,” said Lehigh Valley For All President David Harrington. “When people who might not normally associate, sit down and break bread together, they’re bound to find common ground and, perhaps, a common cause. The simple act of sharing food can be a catalyst for positive change.”
Lehigh Valley For All is hosting the event in association with Cooking-with-a-Hyphen, an ACLU initiative devoted to bringing people together one potluck at a time.
