QUAKERTOWN, PA [May 1, 2017] –  On Thursday, May 4, 2017, the seventh and eighth grade students at St. Isidore School will hold a mock trial with Judge Michael J. Koury, Jr.  The Rendell Center literature-based mock trial is an enrichment program through the Rendell Center for Civics and Engagement designed to deepen the understanding of a literature piece while learning about the judicial system.

The mock trial is based on a piece of literature that the students have read. The students choose a character to “try” for a crime.  St. Isidore School is using The Outsiders and the case is for murder, called “The State vs. Johnny Cade.” The eighth grade will present the case with the seventh grade acting as the jury.

Michael J. Koury, Jr. is Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County. He presides over civil and criminal trials and is assigned as an Associate Judge of Domestic Relations.  Judge Michael Koury, Jr. will be at St. Isidore School, 603 W. Broad St., Quakertown, PA 18951 on Thursday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m.
