Awards $1,000 Grant to Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County
Allentown, PA, January 16, 2017 —The Griswold Cares Foundation chose Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County to receive a $1,000 grant during its 2017 granting cycle because of the Agency’s “continuous commitment to work in the community with individuals to support their independence in remaining in place to age.”
The Griswold Cares Foundation’s vision is of a future in which all seniors, including those with limited financial means, will have the opportunity to age with dignity in the comfort their own home. To carry out this vision and give back to the communities where Griswold Home Care has a footprint, the Foundation provides grants for select community programs such as Meals on Wheels that help people age in place who otherwise could not afford to do so. Donations to the foundation by Griswold Home Care franchisees, friends, and family allowed the Foundation now in its’ fourth year of issuing grants has awarded over $145,000 worth of grants to nonprofit organizations across the nation.
Michele Grasso, Development Director, said: “We truly appreciate the support of the Griswold Cares Foundation that recognizes the importance of our program to our community. The grant will subsidize more than 236 meals delivered by caring volunteers who are instrumental in helping to keep our homebound neighbors safe, healthy and happy at home for the homebound seniors and adults with disabilities we serve.”
About Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County: Each weekday, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County, a nonprofit agency, serves over 450 homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living throughout Lehigh County.746 individual and group volunteers deliver 167,000 meals each year to and provide grocery shopping services to more than 150 clients.
