The Hillside School, nestled in picturesque Lower Macungie, Pennsylvania, has a rich and storied history that spans four decades, making it a cornerstone of excellence in education in the Lehigh Valley.

Established in 1983 by a group of dedicated educators and community members, The Hillside School was founded with a mission to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning abilities.

Recognizing the unique needs of children who learn differently, the school’s founders set out to create a place where each student’s potential could flourish, regardless of differing learning styles. Over the years, The Hillside School has continued to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape of education while remaining true to its core values. The school’s success is due to the commitment to individualized instruction, small class sizes, and a personalized approach to learning.

When asked about this milestone school year, Jason Seggern, Head of The Hillside School, stated “It’s truly humbling to be part of a school community that has positively impacted the lives of so many in the Lehigh Valley. As Hillside celebrates its remarkable 40-year journey, we take immense pride in being an integral pillar of the local educational landscape. Reflecting on our history, it’s astonishing to recall our humble beginnings in the basement of the Church of The Holy Spirit in Emmaus. This 40th Anniversary is a testament to the unwavering commitment and devotion of the educators, students, and families who have all been part of the Hillside legacy.”

The East Penn Chamber of Commerce invites the community to attend a ribbon-cutting celebration to commemorate the Hillside School’s 40th Anniversary on Monday August 28th at 9:00AM. The doors will open at 8:00AM with networking, light refreshments, and the opportunity to join the students in their morning affirmations as they begin their new school year journey! After the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will begin promptly at 9:00, guests are invited to stay for tours of the kindergarten to 8th-grade facility.

“With my former life being in early childhood education, seeing families dedicate the time and resources to their children with learning differences by enrolling them in The Hillside School, just warms my heart for the generations to come! The school’s commitment with 40 years educating the youth in our community is something worth celebrating, and we hope the community will come out and participate in this wonderful celebration” stated Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, Executive Vice President of the Affiliated Chambers when asked about her thoughts on this event.

This is just the start of the many opportunities to celebrate and learn about The Hillside School’s goals of empowering difference and unlocking potential in this coming school year. Learn more about their upcoming open houses and community fundraising events by visiting www.hillsideschool.org
