Lehigh Valley, Pa. – Ravi Samy, MD, has been named Chief of Division of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). Dr. Samy comes from University of Cincinnati/Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he served as neurotology/skull-base surgery division chief and director of the Neurotology Fellowship and Auditory Brainstem Implant and Cochlear Implant Program.
Clinical specialties
Dr. Samy performs a range of services and procedures in pediatric and adult otology and neurotology, with a specialty in skull-base tumor resection.
“Dr. Samy is a very well-respected otolaryngologist, head and neck surgeon who brings a unique skill set – lateral skull-base surgery – which helps us expand our current skull-base program,” says Michael Pasquale, MD, Chair, Department of Surgery, Physician in Chief, Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence, and Interim Physician in Chief, Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, LVHN.
He also specializes in hearing loss, working with cochlear implantation, auditory brainstem implementation, implantable hearing devices and bone conduction devices in adults and children. In addition, Dr. Samy also treats tinnitus, dizziness, chronic ear infections, cerebrospinal fluid leaks and facial nerve disorders.
Vision for the future
Dr. Samy says that delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care is his first priority, and he plans to expand the reach of LVHN otolaryngology, head and neck surgery to become a world-renowned program. He will begin with a rebranding, new residency program, new international skull-base surgery fellowship, and strong focus on academic training and research.
“Dr. Samy is a natural teacher who will help oversee the residency program and grow it, so we’ll be training the best and the brightest, growing our own,” Pasquale says. “His vision of making LVHN and the otolaryngology, head and neck surgery program a regional, national and international presence is what we want, and he is certainly the right person to get us there.”
