Easton, PA – March 20, 2018 – The nonprofit Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley has officially opened the doors on its new community health center in West Ward Easton.
Located at 1101 Northampton Street on the first floor of the Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation building, the facility has 3600 sq. ft. of space with eight exam rooms.
NHCLV first opened its Easton site in April 2017 in a temporary space while it built out its permanent space. The facility uses an Integrated Medical and Behavioral Family Health Service Model and provides well and sickness care services for all ages from birth through geriatrics as well as for pregnant women, chronic care nurse management, group medical visits, dental services, and medication-assisted therapy for opioid use disorder.
The Easton site has seven full-time staff members and four part-timers, as well as a full complement of supportive behavioral health, clinical social services, and administrative staff.
NHCLV offers educational classes for patients that include group prenatal and parenting using the Centering Healthcare Institute Model, diabetes prevention and management support services, behavioral health support and management groups, community exchange groups for time banking, and will offer other classes as the office grows.
“We’d like to thank the NHCLV Board of Directors and the Two Rivers Health and Wellness Foundation for their leadership and commitment to supporting this expansion effort into Easton,” said NHCLV Executive Director Melissa Miranda. “NHCLV received funding for this expansion from awards issued in December 2016 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Primary Health Services under the Obama administration. NHCLV was the only Federally Qualified Health Center in Pennsylvania to receive a New Access Point Award to open a community health center that serves a medically underserved area and population.”
NHCLV also operates the Vida Nueva at Casa Guadalupe community health center in downtown Allentown, and a health center at the Fowler Family Center at Donegan Elementary School in Southside Bethlehem.
