ArtsQuest Offering Free Christkindlmarkt Admission for Kids on Event’s Opening Weekend
Holiday Marketplace Kicks Off 6-weekend Run Nov. 17-19.
As part of Christkindlmarkt’s special 25th Anniversary celebration, ArtsQuest is offering free admission for children during the event’s opening weekend Nov. 17-19. The offer is good for all kids ages 6-12 who are accompanied by a paying adult. Regular admission price for ages 6-12 is $5; ages 5 and under are always admitted free.
Established in 1993, Christkindlmarkt is a one-of-a-kind holiday experience that brings the spirit of Bethlehem, the Christmas City, alive with the season. Twice recognized as one of the top holiday markets in the nation by Travel + Leisure, this heart-warming holiday event features aisles of handmade works by the nation’s finest artisans, as well as live Christmas music; an authentic German St. Nicholas; renowned German ornament designer Käthe Wohlfarht, and European favorites like wursts and strudel.
This year’s Christkindlmarkt features its largest array of Christmas items and collectibles ever, with up to 165 artisans and vendors each weekend. New highlights for families include an expanded Children’s Crafts Area, where kids are invited to work with the professional artists of the Banana Factory arts center to make crafts like pop-up holiday cards, paper snowflake “quilts,” ornaments and snowmen. Artists will be on hand Saturdays-Sundays, noon-4 p.m., but select craft activities will be available during all Christkindlmarkt hours.

Healthy Tip from Michelle Martucci, RD, LDN
Dietician for Bethlehem Area School District
Avoid words like “never” or “bad” with foods. Instead discuss that some foods are “sometimes” foods since they are not as healthy for us to eat as “everyday” foods such as fruits and vegetables.

Baseball Umpires Needed
Bethlehem Umpires Association (BUA) is actively taking applications for baseball umpires! Whether you are an experienced umpire, or looking to break into the game as a rookie, we have the appropriate level for you.
We offer a competitive level of play for all levels of experience and the opportunity to umpire throughout the greater Lehigh Valley area. Our organization officiates over 1500+ games for Little League, Travel Teams, Connie Mack, Youth Legion, and LVMSBL (Men’s League) from April until November.
Take your passion for sports and turn it into a part time avocation that will enable you to give back to the community. We accept members starting at 16 and offer education, training and mentorships to improve your skills and obtain higher level games as you gain more experience.
If you are an experienced umpire and you would like to try to get involved in a group we would love to hear from you.
We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month from February through September, contact us today through our website (www.bethump.org) or email us at bethumpassoc@gmail.com for more information! We look forward to speaking with you soon about umpiring for the BUA.
