Merger Completed Between Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and Pride of the Greater Lehigh Valley
Merger Will Provide Sustainability for the Annual Festival
ALLENTOWN, PA — Following September votes by the Boards of Directors of the Lehigh Valley’s two leading LGBT cultural organizations, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and Pride of the Greater Lehigh Valley expressing unanimous intent to merge, the organizations today announce the completion of the merger.
The terms of the merger maintained the leadership structure of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, but add a volunteer-composed Pride Festival Planning Committee which will work with Center staff to produce the annual festival.
The merger was completed with support from the Lehigh Valley Synergy Fund, a charitable fund of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation created through a collaborative effort of the Foundation and the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. The Lehigh Valley Synergy Fund supported legal, accounting, graphic, and technology-related integration expenses to support the merger. Legal support was provided by Attorney Mark Aurand at Davison & McCarthy P.C.
Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, stated: “We are grateful for the long-time volunteer leaders who made the annual pride festival happen for t25 years. With this merger now completed, we are ready to move forward with their volunteer support as well as professional staff support to continue and to grow the festival in its 25th year at beyond.”
