TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – A year ago, Tom and Matt Rotherham teamed up to sweep the tandem events in Tandemonium. On Friday night, the two were on separate teams, but still claimed victories at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in this year’s event.
Matt Rotherham of Great Britain partnered with Sam Dakin of New Zealand and won the tandem sprint tournament as they bested Tom Rotherham of Great Britain and Joel Yates of New Zealand.
The tandem of Tom Rotherham and Yates got their revenge in the feature event, Tandemonium, a 12-lap scratch race against all the tandems, as the pair won the event. Matt Rotherham and Dakin settled for second.
Stephen Hall of Australia won the men’s overall omnium tallying 16 points. Hall sealed his omnium victory with a win in the men’s 30 lap points race. Jordan Castle of New Zealand finished in second in the omnium with 12 points.
For the women’s omnium, Olivia Podmore of New Zealand was victorious with 19 points. Anita Stenberg of Norway earned a second-place finish with 15 points.
Matthew Harrison of New York won the stagiaires overall omnium with 16 points.

The 2017 World Series of Bicycling season continues next Friday with the Mike Walter 100 Lap Madison. Also, it is the second Dog Day of Summer this season as fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the track. Additionally, the is a $1 hotdog night at the A-Treat Breakaway Café.
Tickets start as low as $6 with children 12 years old and younger being $2. Tickets are on sale in advance here and can also be purchased at the box office on event night. Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
