Pumpkins & Pooches meet Apple Jam at Oct. 28 Easton Farmers’ Market with tastings, contests, desserts, libations, activities and more

EASTON, Pa. — Easton Farmers’ Market will highlight two unmistakable fall favorites – apples and pumpkins – with its annual Apple Jam and Pumpkins & Pooches events, Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scott Park. in a dual celebration at the peak of the fall harvest season.

Apple Jam 

With Apple Jam, market goers can sample 20+ varieties of apples from the Northeast, including heirloom and organic varieties. Many of the market’s four dozen vendors will be offering apple-inspired goodies to stock up on like apple cider donuts, strudel, pies, tarts and pastries, salads, homemade ice cream from Nest Box Creamery with apple cider floats, caramel apple streusel ice cream and pumpkin gingersnap ice cream, savory sausages, and more. Green Vida Co. will be giving away FREE popsicles while supplies last. That’s on top of encouraging patrons to fill their bags with the farm-fresh, locally grown fruit for eating or cooking at home. They can also enjoy fresh pressed cider, hard cider and cocktails bursting with apple juice.

Pumpkins & Pooches

Both kiddos and doggos will have special activities at the Market. Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting and crafts during market hours. Dog events include a Howl-O-Ween agility course for the and a Howl-O-Ween photo op (with a beautiful autumn backdrop along the riverfront) with the hashtag #EFMmarketpups for social media shares.

A dog costume contest  will award pups (and their owners) in the following categories:

●        Funniest Costume
●        Cutest Costume
●        Best Dog and Owner Duo
●        Best Group Costume

Live music will be provided by Mike Frank & Friends from 10am – Noon. A fantastic line-up of guest vendors will include:

Free parking for Easton Farmers’ Market will be available in the two lots adjacent to Scott Park, thanks to Riverstar Properties and the Law Offices of Florio-Perrucci. EFM – as well as the Highmark Farmstand inside Easton Public Market — welcomes Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Additionally, Philadelphia-based The Food Trust (thefoodtrust.org) will double purchases up to $10 through the use of Food Bucks for fruits and veggies when shoppers spend at least $2 using SNAP at all three markets.

Holding the title of America’s oldest, continuous open-air market, the Easton Farmers’ Market has been a destination for fresh and locally grown and prepared foods since pre-Revolutionary times. A program of the nonprofit Greater Easton Development Partnership, the Easton Farmers’ Market, presented by Capital Blue, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday (May-December) at Scott Park along Larry Holmes Drive.
