LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – July 2, 2018 – The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail announced today the addition of a new winery member. Black River Farms has joined the nonprofit organization, which promotes viticulture in the region.

Black River Farms is an urban vineyard and winery located off of Rt. 378 in Lower Saucon Township, two miles south of downtown Bethlehem. Owned by Andy and Kris Warner, the 17-acre farm was established in 2009 and features a sustainable nine-acre vineyard growing 14 varieties of grapes. In addition to growing wine grapes, the farm produces and sells fruits and vegetables, flowers, and free-range chicken eggs.

Its red wines include Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Lemberger and Sangiovese, as well as blends 90 and Saki. White wines include Chardonnay, Kerner, Traminette, and Vidal Blanc, along with blends Star, Hatch, Tilly, and Mary, which is a rosé.

“We have been blessed with a site that has helped us grow very healthy and high-quality fruit,” said Andy Warner. “It is a pleasure to share our sustainable and beautiful green space, farm, and vineyard with many visitors.”

The winery is open Thursdays and Fridays from 1- 6 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon – 6 pm. For a $5 tasting fee guests can sample five wines. Groups of six or more people require advance reservations so that appropriate staffing can be provided. Most weekends feature food trucks and live music, along with special events such as painting or yoga classes for an additional fee.
