Steelworkers’ Archives Walking Tours Return April 7 at SteelStacks

BETHLEHEM, PA—Take a walk in the shoes of a steelworker, learn how the blast furnaces worked and discover the untold stories of Bethlehem Steel during “Steelwalkers,” the walking tours presented by the Steelworkers’ Archives at SteelStacks. Tours will take place Saturdays and Sundays April 7-Nov. 11, 11:30 a.m., with the exception of Oct. 20-21.

With Steelwalkers, guests discover what life was like working at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. from tour guides who worked at the plant for decades. The tours draw on guides’ firsthand experience of all aspects of the steelmaking process, including role of the PBNE Railroad, the Coke Works, Sintering Plant, Machine Shops, Scrap Prep, Power House, and Blast Furnaces.  Tickets are $15 per person and free for ages 12 and under; they go on sale starting tomorrow at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.

Steelwalkers tours begin at the Visitor Center at SteelStacks, 711 E. First St., Bethlehem.  For more information, contact the Steelworkers’ Archives at 610-861-0600 or visit www.steelworkersarchives.com.
