ArtsQuest Offering Business and Legal Series for Artists, Creators & Entrepreneurs at Banana Factory

New ‘Creator Sessions’ Kick off Jan. 24 with ‘Legal Boot Camp for Creators’

For those building a business in any creative industry, the business and legal landscape can be daunting.  But it doesn’t have to be that way!

Starting Jan. 24, attorney, musician and writer Bryan Tuk and ArtsQuest are teaming up to present a new monthly series for creators and entrepreneurs called The Creator Sessions.  All sessions will take place at the Banana Factory Arts Center, 25 W. Third St., Bethlehem, PA.

“Helping creators and entrepreneurs in all industries succeed is one of the core principles of my law practice,” says Tuk. “Freelancers often feel as though they have very little support because of the prohibitively high cost of legal services.

“My approach with my creator clients is not just to show them how to limit their legal liability, but to be forward looking and to give them the tools they need to run their businesses more effectively.  The Creator Sessions is an evolution of my law practice, my “Creative Confidential” podcast and the lecturing I’ve done at area colleges and universities.”

The Creator Sessions will run monthly from January through June and include the following sessions:

Jan. 24, 7 p.m.:            Legal Boot Camp for Creators

Feb. 21, 7 p.m.:           Insurance and the Creative Industries

March 21, 7 p.m.:       Creators and Taxes

April 18, 7 p.m.:          Legal Boot Camp for Creators – The Nonprofit Version

May 16, 7 p.m.:           Copyright & Social Media for Creators

June 20, 7 p.m.:           Contract Law for Creators

“The Creator Sessions are an excellent opportunity for artists to build their business and professional development skills to ensure the sustainability of their creative practice. We are excited to offer these workshops in conjunction with ArtsQuest’s Artist Collective program and the support services we offer to the creative community,” says Stacie Brennan, Senior Director of Visual Arts at ArtsQuest.

Tickets for the Creator Sessions are only $10 per session for the public, or $9 per session for ArtsQuest Members and Artist Collective Members. They are on sale now at www.bananafactory.org.

Tuk’s upcoming book, Risk, Create, Change: A Survival Guide for Startups and Creators, also incorporates these lessons and more. It will be on sale March 1, 2018.
