One of the defining British pop groups of the Eighties, Culture Club, entertained a very enthusiastic crowd at the Sands Event Center in Bethlehem on Sunday afternoon.
The set list took me back to the 80’s and the audience loved hearing their classic hits “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”. Some other fan favorites were “Black Money”, “Different Man”, “Church of the Poison Mind” and “Bitchface:.
Boy George and the other three band members were backed up by a horn section, extra keyboards and guitar, percussion and a trio of singers.
They performed two cover songs with full audience participation, the Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and a very moving “Purple Rain” by the iconic Prince.
As much as the music was entertaining, so was George. His sense of humor and British wit along with his colourful hats kept the audience wanting more. The nearly 2 hour show ended and everyone knew there was one more song to be heard. Culture Club returned to the stage for an encore performing their biggest hit, “Karma Chameleon”.
Now the show was over!
