Subaru’s 10th annual Share the Love Event ® will provide home-bound seniors in the Lehigh Valley with nutritious meals, compassion
(Allentown/Bethlehem, November 16, 2017) – Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County and Meals on Wheels of Northampton County are proud to announce that they will be participating in the 10th annual Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America – one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the promotion.
From November 16, 2017 to January 2, 2018, Subaru of America will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer’s choice of participating charity. Last year, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh and Northampton counties collectively received $29,568 from the Share the Love event which funded 15,982 meals for the home-bound seniors and adults with disabilities whom the agencies serve.
Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County is partnering with Ciocca Subaru in Allentown, and Meals on Wheels of Northampton is partnering with Faulkner Subaru in Bethlehem. Each agency will receive a share of the donations raised by Subaru in Pennsylvania.
“We are thrilled to work with Subaru through the Share the Love campaign,” says JoAnn Nenow, Executive Director at Meals on Wheels of Northampton County. “The impact that this partnership has had on the people we proudly serve in our community has been nothing short of amazing.”
Michele Grasso, Director of Development and Communications at Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County, adds: “This year we need to raise $650,000 to meet the need for home-delivered meals, friendly visits and well being checks for 465 homebound seniors and adults with disabilities each weekday. We truly appreciate Subaru of America for supporting our program and hundreds across the country through the Share the Love event. ”
“For the past 10 years, Subaru of America has partnered alongside the Meals on Wheels network to deliver nutrition, companionship and comfort to our nation’s most vulnerable seniors,” says Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. “Since 2008, Subaru’s Share the Love Event has helped deliver more than 1.7 million meals to seniors served by Meals on Wheels. Funds raised through this year’s event will come at a critical time for our network, allowing our boots on the ground to deliver even more of these critically needed services. ”
This year marks Subaru’s 50th anniversary in the U.S., and for the second year in a row, there will be no cap on the total donation from Subaru of America to its Share the Love charitable partners. At the end of this year’s initiative, Subaru hopes to exceed a grand total of $115 million donated since the creation of Share the Love to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event.
