The Go Go’s made a stop on their Farewell Tour last night at Sands Event Center in Bethlehem. These talented women have spent the last 38 years performing together and now are saying goodbye to their beloved fans. What’s notable is that the Go Go’s are the first and only all-female band that both wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to top the Billboard charts! The Go-Go’s biggest hits include “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “Vacation.” What most people may not know is that they used to be a part of the Hollywood punk scene. They even played some of those earlier songs from the 70’s last night and asked the crowd to form a mosh pit up front! The fans that were still seated finally joined in on the excited when they played “Our Town” and “Mad About You.” They really did a great job connecting with their fans. They played “Cool Jerk” and invited 8 lucky fans to come up on stage and dance with them! At one point, the drummer Gina stepped down and came over to the mic. She shared that she’s from MD and felt at home here in Bethlehem. She said she loved her fans. This was well received with cheers from the crowd. Everyone’s cell phone came out to video the Go Go’s when they played “Our Lips are Sealed” and then “We Got the Beat.” For the encore, they told their fans that they wrote a song the other day and we’re going try it out, only to trick us by playing Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” The fans loved it! Then they sped things up with “Get Up and Go.” For the second encore and final song they played a fan favorite “Head Over Heels.” Fans were dancing, singing, cheering, and taking plenty of pictures and videos of the Go Go’s as this will be the last time they see these talented ladies perform together. The Go Go’s will play 18 shows this August, starting Aug. 2 at the Capitol Theater in Clearwater, Florida, and wrapping up Aug. 30 at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. You can still catch them in Philadelphia on August 11th.
