COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL AT LEHIGH PARKWAY
June 12, 2016 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Join Friends of the Allentown Parks in celebrating the 175th anniversary of Allentown’s only remaining covered bridge located in beautiful Lehigh Parkway. Dust off your 1800s garb and step back into time with Lehigh County historian Frank Whelan, mingle with character actors such as presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant, enjoy music by the Antebellum Marine Band (Gettysburg), artists including Jonathan Bond (Kempton, PA), learn about hex signs (Eric Claypoole, Lenhartsville, PA), visit with transportation buffs whether it’s model trains or the Lehigh Canal (Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor), hear about conservation activities – birds, bats, water and much more.
Bogert’s Covered Bridge is located in the area of 1325 Oxford Dr., however, PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE ON-SITE. Free shuttle bus services will be provided from 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Visitors are asked to park at one of the following Allentown park locations and take a shuttle bus to the event:

Opening ceremony begins at 12:00 p.m. at the bridge entrance with a welcome by local actor George Miller portraying Mr. Johannes Bogert, Sr., gentleman who hired Solomon Butz to build Bogert’s Covered Bridge in 1841.
