Hundreds of Corporate Interns Impact our Nonprofit Community

Allentown, PA (June 9, 2026) – On Thursday, June 18th, nearly 360 interns from 13 local businesses will convene at 19 local nonprofits for our 8th annual Intern Impact Day managed by Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. The day will kick off at Coca-Cola Park at 8:00 a.m. and from there the interns will head to their project sites.

Intern Impact Day is designed to connect summer interns from local businesses with area nonprofits by volunteering for meaningful service projects. This initiative not only supports community organizations but also fosters a deeper connection between interns and the Lehigh Valley region.

“Intern Impact Day is more than a volunteer project—it is an investment in the next generation of community-minded leaders,” said Karen Smith, CEO of Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. “Through hands-on service with 19 local nonprofit organizations, interns gain a deeper understanding of the issues impacting our region while building relationships, leadership skills, and a lasting connection to the Lehigh Valley.

For businesses, Intern Impact Day serves as a valuable networking environment where interns collaborate side by side, creating professional connections and lasting friendships. By engaging interns in community service, companies help establish a stronger intern engagement and an increase in awareness of corporate social responsibility.

This event is fully aligned with the Volunteer Center’s mission to connect local nonprofits to resources, demonstrating that community impact starts here.
