In his second term leading the County of Northampton, County Executive Lamont G. McClure presented his sixth budget on Tuesday, October 3rd, in Council Chambers at the Northampton County Government Center.
Thanks to sound fiscal management, County Executive McClure announced that the 2024 proposed budget does not raise real estate taxes. The tax rate will remain at 10.8 mils for 2024.
Budget priorities include:
- Dedicating funds to the preservation of farmland, open space, and environmentally sensitive land. The 2024 budget includes $3 million to protect green space and fight warehouse proliferation. The County is on pace to have invested $25 million by the end of Executive McClure’s second term.
- The McClure Administration provided alternatives for lowering healthcare costs, including the Employee Health Center. However, County Council chose not to adopt the plan to create an Employee Health Center. This move not only increased healthcare costs for employees, but prevented a ½ mil tax cut from taking effect.
- The Administration’s commitment to Gracedale to remain county-owned and county-operated without contributions from the Northampton County General Fund.
- Improvements for County buildings, upgrades to our County parks, and jail renovations over the next several years.

The $582 million 2024 Proposed Budget is available on the Fiscal Department’s website.
The budget now goes to Council.
