BETHLEHEM, PA – August 2, 2023 – Each year for one week in August, nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Centers across the county celebrate National Health Center Week as a way to highlight the work they do in providing primary healthcare to their communities, while honoring the team members who care for them.
This year it takes place from August 7-12, with each day of the week having a different theme. Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley, the region’s first FQHC, has several community events planned. See below for details. NHCLV operates four community health centers offering primary medical care at sites in downtown Allentown, Northside and Southside Bethlehem, and West Ward Easton (see below for addresses). All of its health centers are open to the general public. It treats patients with or without health insurance.
Healthcare for Unhoused People: Tuesday, August 8 from 11 am –3 pm
- Sixth Street Shelter, downtown Allentown – Free toiletry and first aid items with snacks from Salvation Army; information on hot meals program from Salvation Army; information on NHCLV services and the Neighbor-2-Neighbor Time Banking Program; chair yoga demonstration with Gina from NHCLV; health insurance information from event sponsors; raffles & prizes.
- Cay Galgon Life House in Bethlehem – information on NHCLV services and the Neighbor-2-Neighbor Time Banking Program; chair yoga demonstration with Gina from NHCLV; health insurance information from event sponsors; raffles & prizes.
Patient Appreciation Day – Wednesday, August 9 from 8 am – 4 pm at all four NHCLV health center locations. Enjoy free snacks & drinks, raffles with prizes, and giveaways from NHCLV partners. Plus a free magic act for kids by The Magic of Sasso.
Children’s Health Day – Saturday, August 12 from 9 am – 1 pm at the NHCLV downtown Allentown (160 Hamilton Street) and Northside Bethlehem (635 E. Broad St.) locations only. All of the following activities and features are free:
- Face painting (Allentown site)
- Clown with Balloons (Bethlehem site)
- The Magic of Sasso magic act – 9-10:30 am Bethlehem site; 11 am – 1 pm – Allentown site
- Free food & drinks
- Dental health education and information
- Information from NHCLV’s healthcare partners
- Raffles with prizes and giveaways
- Back-to-school physicals & school-based vaccines (ages 5+)
- Information about NHCLV healthcare services

NHCLV was officially incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit organization in 2004 with a goal of meeting the needs for a coordinated system of primary care for the uninsured and underinsured residents of the Lehigh Valley. Its administrative offices are located at its Northside Bethlehem facility on Broad Street.
