HARRISBURG, June 20 – State Rep. Jeanne McNeill released a statement on today’s passage of H.B. 1500 – the minimum wage bill.
“Today, members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives stood in solidarity with our workforce by voting to raise the minimum wage.
“We owe it to our workers who keep our businesses running and economy flowing to pay them wages that reflect the current prices of the 21st century, and I was glad to vote alongside my colleagues to get one step further toward that goal.”
This legislation would increase the minimum wage in Pennsylvania to:
- $11.00 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2024.
- $13.00 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2025.
- $15.00 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2026
There would be annual cost-of-living increases beginning in 2027. The bill would also set the minimum wage for tipped workers at 60% of the hourly minimum wage – which has been stuck at $2.83 per hour since the 20th century.
