The City Center Match for Our Community will double all new and increased gifts to support the work of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Allentown, PA, September 14, 2020 – As United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley kicks off its 2020 campaign, City Center Investment Corp., the real estate development company revitalizing downtown Allentown, Pa., today announced that it has pledged a $1 million matching gift through its Building Community initiative.
“During this time of extraordinary need, City Center Investment Corp. and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley are proud to work together to provide critical resources to the children, families and seniors living in the Greater Lehigh Valley. These are unprecedented times, and we hope through your support of United Way, you’ll help us make an even greater impact with the City Center Match for Our Community,” remarked City Center President J.B. Reilly, who is serving as UWGLV’s 2020 campaign co-chair with his wife Kathleen.
The City Center Match for Our Community will provide a dollar-for-dollar match all new and increased gifts, up to $1 million, to United Way’s Community Building Fund or to support United Way’s work in the areas of education, food access, healthy aging and emergency services.
“Every dollar donated to United Way’s Community Building Fund is invested in stabilizing our community and helping our neighbors recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to City Center’s remarkable generosity, all donors have the opportunity to maximize their impact. We’re encouraging supporters at all levels to help us leverage every dollar of the City Center Match for Our Community and get resources to our community members who need them most,” added David Lewis, President, UWGLV.
Building Community is the community-engagement initiative of City Center and its employees and principals. The initiative aims to revitalize downtown Allentown and its surrounding neighborhoods into a sustainable, vibrant urban community by providing financial support, in-kind donations and volunteer service in three key results-oriented areas: the arts, education and community development. In 2019, CCIC donated more than $2.2 million total to 120 organizations and its 23 employees volunteered at nearly 45 organizations, donating more than 2,000 total hours. Since CCIC launched Building Community three years ago, it has donated more than $9.8 million total, mainly to organizations in downtown Allentown.
