The 2019 People’s Lobby Day is an annual event that unites Pennsylvanians for an equitable and abundant PA future. It is time for a People’s Budget in PA.
On Wednesday, April 17th hundreds of mothers, teachers, workers, students, immigrants, elders and families will converge on the Capitol steps to fortify courageous law makers leading the way to build a better future for PA. The PA Budget touches every aspect of our lives and we intend to be included in the decision making process. Every year we unite around pushing for a Peoples PA Budget. This will be the largest PA People’s Lobby Day yet, with over 300 people expected.
Our top priorities this year are:
-
Increasing Education Funding
-
Growing the Green New Deal in PA
-
Expanding the PA Promise of Free Public College to include Undocumented Students
Lead organizations are joining in from every corner of the keystone state, including: CASA, Make the Road Pa, ONE PA, PA UNITED, and the Center for Coalfield Justice.
We are an inclusive movement, excited to lobby and meet directly with State Representatives. People identify and care about the same issues. We know that we need to be where change happens. On Wednesday, we will create a sense of solidarity, understanding and what is possible when we work together. We have all been impacted in different ways by our state’s funding priorities. On the People’s Lobby Day we will make sure the voices among us who are heard from the least are put in the front.
Participatory democracy is the healing work we all need right now, to right the wrongs and set course towards a future that inspires us: an equitable and abundant PA future.
