Second Annual “Progress in Politics” Conference
Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Allentown
Allentown, PA – An impressive panel of women join featured panelist U.S. Congressional candidate Susan Wild for a thought-provoking discussion Sunday, September 23rd in Allentown about the issues that remain a priority as we close in on the November 6th election. An astounding number of women candidates are running for office in Pennsylvania and around the country and the issues that will propel them into office are the topics for discussion at Amy Zanelli’s second annual Progress in Politics forum.
Panelists include:
- Patty Kim, Pennsylvania State Representative District 103
- Sharon Booker, Pennsylvania State Democratic Party Executive Committee and Sharon Hill Councilwoman
- Jennifer Gomez Hardy, attorney with the Gomez Law Group, and Vice President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania
- Shavonnia Corbin-Johnson, former Obama administration assistant to the director of the Office of Management and Budget
- Amy Cozze, Lehigh Valley small business owner and candidate for Pennsylvania State Representative District 137
Last year, over 100 students, seniors, laborers, public officials, judges, working parents and minorities, all powerful advocates for equality, minority representation and women in politics, attended Progress in Politics to share stories about grassroots politics and to support local and statewide candidates.
Susan Wild, the Democratic candidate in the Lehigh Valley’s 7th Congressional District, is one of 81 candidates nationwide who former President Barack Obama has chosen to support. Obama announced August 1st that Wild would be one of five Democratic candidates in Pennsylvania that he would be supporting.
All proceeds from Progress in Politics will benefit the Susan Wild for Congress campaign. The 7th District is one of the newly configured districts created when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered that the formerly configured districts were unfairly delineated.
Zanelli, the first openly gay Lehigh County Commissioner, organizes this annual event to spotlight the common issues shared by those who have seen the impact of grassroots advocacy on representation in government.
