Slatington, PA – Slatington Borough Councilor, local business owner and Northampton Area High School graduate, Jason Ruff, is formally announcing his candidacy for Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, District 183.
The citizens of the district deserve strong and passionate leadership and representation and a strong voice on their behalf in Harrisburg. For too long, they have not been heard or represented and Jason Ruff is running to change that.
Mr. Ruff is a 1995 graduate of Northampton High School and graduated from Kutztown University with a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and holistic leadership. He is the small business owner of Charlotte Fay’s Main Street Diner in Slatington, PA, a board member of the Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, and has worked in the financial services sector.
He is currently serving as Vice-President of the Slatington Borough Council, the chair of the Human and Community Services Committee and is council’s representative on the committee tasked with updating the Northern Lehigh County Region’s Multi-Municipal Comprehensive Plan.
Mr. Ruff’s volunteer activities include being a member of the Lehigh County Blight Task Force, the D & L Trail steering committee to build stronger bonds between trail users and the Lehigh and Northampton County community businesses, and he also serves as the acting chair of the Slatington Revitalization Partnership, a local merchant group tasked with economic development and community improvement.
There are consequences when we let party politics control government, and in the end, it is always the hard-working citizens who suffer. The people the 183rd district deserve a leader committed to ask tough questions, talk about what isn’t working, listen, and then go to Harrisburg and fight for smart solutions that work for the district. I’m committed to smart property tax reform/elimination for property owners, fair districts that give voice to every vote, expanding services for seniors and implementing tax breaks for our firefighters, among many other things and look forward to fresh leadership, growth, economic development and progress for our beautiful district!
