The Allentown Rotary Club Foundation hosted this year’s Roger and Louise Mullin Scholarship Award ceremony at Bell Hall in Allentown. Each year several exemplary students are nominated and screened to find the most deserving student. This year’s selection carried an impressive resume of accomplishments along with an amazing list of extracurricular activities that earned her the top pick for this year’s award. From a field of about twenty applicants, The Scholarship Committee of the Allentown Rotary Club choose Hannah Schoepple, a senior at Dieruff High School. In addition to being award this year’s scholarship Ms. Schoepple also received acclamations and letters of praise from several Senators, Congressmen, and the Mayor of Allentown.
The Roger and Louise Mullin Scholarship fund was established in 1988 by the Allentown Rotary Club Foundation with a major benefactor gift of the late Roger and Louise Mullin. Roger Mullin was the former CEO of Mack Trucks as well as an active member of the Allentown Rotary Club.
The Allentown Rotary Club Foundation has committed itself to awarding a college scholarship every year to a deserving high school graduate from one of Allentown’s three high schools: Allentown Central Catholic High School, Dieruff High School and William Allen High School. This scholarship program identifies young people with financial need who have demonstrated service to their communities and strong leadership qualities. The scholarship amounts to $3,000 each year of the student’s college experience.
