Lehigh Valley, PA     You see them throughout the boroughs, townships, and cities across the Lehigh Valley; colorful banner flags designating the main streets of the municipalities we live in. Many of them for a portion of the year take the opportunity to use this real estate to recognize and honor the military heroes, both past and present, that have walked these streets and called them home.

While the Borough of Alburtis has been one of these communities for many years, a recent grant from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Main Street Foundation is allowing them to expand their current program.

The borough is excited to re-open applications for more residents to honor their loved ones military service with the reopening of the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. “The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is meant to honor veterans and service members who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces,” stated Steve Nemeth, Alburtis Borough Manager. “The banners remind the community of the commitment those individuals made to the country. The Borough of Alburtis is a community that is rich in Patriotic pride, it’s only fitting that we continue to honor our men and women that have served in the military.”

“We here at the Chamber like to say we are not just a Chamber of Commerce, but we are also a Chamber of Communities; we love working with our municipalities to implement programs, events and initiatives for the communities we serve” stated Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, EVP of the Affiliated Chambers, Northern Tier and Easton/Phillipsburg Initiatives of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to be partnering with the Borough of Alburtis to help facilitate the expansion of their current Hometown Hero Banners program.”
