(EASTON, PA) — ProJeCt of Easton recently received a $20,000 donation from Covenant Bank courtesy of President and Chief Operating Officer Blair T. Rush and Eileen Wass, Vice President of Human Resources and Marketing. Covenant Bank, based in Doylestown, provided the funds through the state’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.
ProJeCt CEO Janice Komisor thanked Blair and Eileen for their continued support. “While supporting our pre-school you enable us to offer families with low literacy our comprehensive family literacy program, providing children with a high quality educational start while their parents also advance their education.”
Covenant Bank is one of several businesses active with ProJeCt during April:
- Crayola awarded ProJeCt’s SIZZLE!® program with a $10,000 grant award. SIZZLE!® is a literacy-based summer camp for students in the Easton School District.
- Victaulic celebrated its 100th anniversary on April 4 by sending 45 volunteers to ProJeCt’s Legacy Garden at Fowler Literacy Center (FLC). ProJeCt is the beneficiary of Victaulic’s chosen partner for the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley’s Volunteer Challenge.
- Met-Ed/First Energy Corporation raised $475 through its annual “Harvest for Hunger” to benefit ProJeCt’s Food Pantry, which also received 100 donated hams courtesy of Giant Supermarkets.
- Carmen Abrazado, owner of Delaware River Books in Easton, donated $350 to FLC to purchase a refurbished laptop for students. “Literacy is a very important initiative,” Carmen says, “because there is so much that is accessible once literacy enters someone’s life.”
