DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION MINNESOTA DULUTH, QUINNIPIAC, ARIZONA STATE, AND BOWLING GREEN WILL COMPETE; ONE TEAM WILL ADVANCE TO THE FROZEN FOUR

Allentown, PA (March 24, 2019) – Following the 2019 NCAA Hockey Selection Show at 7:00 p.m., the Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee has announced the Championship bracket for the 16 remaining teams on the road to the National Title. Amongst those 16 teams, defending National Champion Minnesota Duluth, Quinnipiac, Arizona State, and Bowling Green will compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Midwest Regional at PPL Center in Allentown on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31.
The single-elimination Regional Semifinal competition match-ups on Saturday will include (1) Minnesota Duluth vs. (4) Bowling Green at 4:00 p.m., followed by (2) Quinnipiac vs. (3) Arizona State at 7:30 p.m. The two winning teams will face off in a single-elimination Regional Final on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The Midwest Regional Champion, along with the winning teams from the three other Regional sites, will then advance to the Frozen Four and compete at Keybank Center in Buffalo, New York on April 11-13 for the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship Title.
The Regional tournament is a familiar place for defending National Champion Minnesota Duluth, while Arizona State will compete in the NCAA Tournament for the first time, and Bowling Green – collegiate home to Lehigh Valley Phantoms’ Mark Friedman – will appear for the first time in 29 years. Quinnipiac last competed in the NCAA Tournament in 2006, where they advanced to the Frozen Four and ultimately fell to the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the Championship game.
