Bethlehem, PA—The ArtsQuest Foundation is pleased to announce that acclaimed actor, writer and director Daniel Roebuck will receive the Foundation’s prestigious Pinnacle of the Arts Award at the third Linny Awards ceremony Nov. 8, 6 p.m., at the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café at SteelStacks. The Pinnacle of the Arts Award is presented to an individual who has lived or currently resides in the Lehigh Valley and has achieved national or international distinction in the visual, literary or performing arts.
Born and raised in Bethlehem, Roebuck has amassed a substantial resume filled with major films like “The Fugitive,” “U.S. Marshals,” “Halloween 2” and “Agent Cody Banks,” as well as television movies like “The Late Shift,” “Behind the Camera” and “New York Prison Break: The Seduction of Joyce Mitchell” and TV series including “Man in the High Castle,” “Matlock,” “Lost” and “Nash Bridges.” During his nearly 35-year career, he has also guest-starred in numerous television shows including every CSI, “Criminal Minds,” “Law and Order,” “Jane the Virgin” and “Rosewood.”
A graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, Roebuck has produced and directed many documentaries and films including “Christmas is Here Again,” “A Timeless Love” and “Give Till It Hurts.” He recently made his feature film directing debut with “Getting Grace,” which was filmed primarily in Bethlehem. In addition to starring in the film, Roebuck wrote and produced it.
“As many know, I am having a lifelong love affair with the Lehigh Valley,” Roebuck says. “I brag a lot about the region to anyone who will listen and always emphasize the community-wide love and support of the arts. That I am receiving the Pinnacle of the Arts Award from the ArtsQuest Foundation is an honor beyond my imagining.”
Roebuck is married to Tammy Roebuck, who collaborates with him on film projects through the company Magic Bean Entertainment. He has two children, Grace (age 22) and Buster (20), and two step-children, Veronica (22) and Julia (16).
Named after the late Marlene ‘Linny’ Fowler, a stained glass artist and community leader who supported artists and arts organizations throughout the Lehigh Valley for more than a quarter century, the Linny Awards are designed to recognize and celebrate the region’s flourishing arts community.
In addition to the Pinnacle of the Arts Award, the Foundation will present 10 other awards including Visual Artist of the Year, Performing Artist of the Year, Emerging Artist of the Year, Arts Educator of the Year, Business Supporters of the Arts, Philanthropy in the Arts, Excellence in Production Design and the Lehigh Valley Scholarship Award.
Proceeds from the Linny Awards go to support the Foundation, which Fowler helped found in 2003. The Foundation is focused on supporting and strengthening the long-term sustainability of ArtsQuest, the nonprofit that presents Musikfest and nearly 4,000 other programs, events and educational classes annually for the region, 40 percent of which are free to attend.
