Allentown, PA — From humble beginnings to a legacy of sustainability, E. Schneider & Sons is celebrating an incredible 123 years of recycling excellence—and you’re invited to join the celebration this April 19, 2025, in honor of both this milestone and Earth Day!

In 1902, Edward Schneider and his sister Esther arrived in Allentown after fleeing Belarus, carrying with them only resilience and a dream. That dream took root on Ridge Avenue, where Edward founded a small recycling operation that would eventually evolve into a regional powerhouse. Just three years later, the business expanded to 6th & Sumner Avenue—where it still thrives today, more than 120 years later.

Today, E. Schneider & Sons proudly operates alongside H. Blinderman & Son in Hellertown (est. 1925, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year!) and Easton Area Metal Recycling (founded in 2015), continuing a tradition of environmental leadership and community commitment.

Join the Celebration!

All locations will host a community-wide celebration on Saturday, April 19, packed with fun and festivities for the whole family:

  •  Special pricing on scrap metal
  •  Snacks and giveaways
  •  Commemorative T-shirts for sale
  •  A Race Car Show at the Allentown location!

Whether you’re a longtime customer, a local resident, or just passionate about protecting the planet, this event is a chance to celebrate a legacy of sustainability and look ahead to a greener future—together.
