Allentown, PA September 12, 2024 – Over 100 attendees including township residents, community partners, government dignitaries, Township Board of Supervisors and staff, and local business employees will join Upper Macungie Township on Thursday, September 12 for the Upper Macungie Township Community Lifestyle Center groundbreaking event. In partnership with the Township’s non-profit, Upper Macungie Township Community Fund, the proud acknowledgement will be made distinguishing the project’s Founding Partners.
The 188,000 square foot Community Lifestyle Center is positioned to enhance the quality of life for residents, while becoming an identifying landmark in the township as a source of community pride and a centralized gathering place. It will distinguish the township as a contributor to the economic health of the community by providing jobs, generating tourism, and providing the multi-functional space residents have been seeking.
“We look forward to opening the doors of this premiere facility that will offer many of the different activities our residents have requested. Our programs and amenities will expand to include hosted community events, sporting events, educational classes, health and wellness seminars, and much more. Notably, our facility will not be dependent on tax dollars – we expect to generate enough revenue to operate the facility,” said Robert Ibach, Jr., Township Manager, Upper Macungie Township.
This state-of-the-art facility will offer a large indoor turf sports field, multipurpose courts, and several community rooms that will provide the community with a health-conscious and energy-driven hub of activity for all generations.
“The project is a great example of the power of the community coming together. Voices of residents have been heard and action has been put into place by the township and community partners to bring these dreams to life,” Laura McHugh, Vice Chair of Upper Macungie Township Community Fund Board and Upper Macungie Township resident.
Local businesses have committed generous funds and/or in-kind contributions to show their support for this facility – a reason to live and work in the surrounding communities. Founding Partners include:
- Air Products,
- Lehigh Valley Health Network,
- Butz Family of Companies, and
- Jaindl Family of Companies
“With the Air Products Global Headquarters located near the park and so many of our employees and their families who are active there throughout the year, it was an easy decision for us to join as a founder of this incredibly unique facility that promotes health and wellness for all,” Laurie Hackett, Air Products Director of Community Relations and Chair of Upper Macungie Township Community Fund Board.
Lehigh Valley Health Network is also the Community Lifestyle Center’s Official Healthcare Partner offering onsite health and wellness programs and services. Alvin H. Butz, Inc is the construction manager.
