As a part of their Author-To-School Program, Let’s Play Books!, an independent bookstore located in Emmaus, PA, is hosting Natasha Friend, author of multiple middle-grade books. Natasha will visit area schools on Tuesday, May 5, as she tours for her new book, Where’ll You’ll Find Me (Macmillan March, 2016), which is receiving praise, including a starred review from the Library School Journal ( http://www.slj.com/2015/12/reviews/books/where-youll-find-me-by-natasha-friend-slj-review/ ). Natasha Friend is the author of PERFECT (Milkweed Editions), LUSH (Scholastic, Inc.), BOUNCE (Scholastic, Inc.), FOR KEEPS (Viking Children’s Books), and MY LIFE IN BLACK AND WHITE (Viking Children’s Books). Her books have won numerous awards including the Milkweed Prize for Children’s Literature, the Isinglass Award, and the Golden Sower Award.
The Author-to-School program connects authors touring for their new book with schools, at no cost to the school. Let’s Play Books! handles the coordination and the administration, providing schools the benefit of a complementary author visit.
Let’s Play Books! is in it’s 2nd full year and has taken more than 10 authors to over 20 schools in the Lehigh Valley, in four area school districts. Authors include the well-known Jeff Kinney, of Diary of a Wimpy Kid fame. In May, Let’s Play Books will be hosting author Liesel Shurtliff for her new title, RED: The True Story of Red Riding Hood, at three area elementary schools.
Schools interested in participating in the Authors-To-Schools Program should attend one of the educator sessions held at Let’s Play Books. These sessions are held every few months, and information can be found on their website www.letsplaybooks.com
