The inaugural Airing of the Quilts-Palmerton is set for Saturday, May 11, 2024, rain or shine. Destined to become an annual event celebrating the artistry and heritage of quilting, visitors to our historic town will be captivated by the enchanting display of creativity and tradition that the quilts represent. Our community spirit will be on full display.
Quilting enthusiasts, artists, and families alike are invited to Palmerton for a day of vibrant colors and intricate designs. From 9 AM to 5 PM the town will come alive with the rich tapestry of quilts adorning store fronts, buildings, fences and our town park.
The Airing of the Quilts isn’t just about showcasing beautiful quilts; it’s a celebration of craftsmanship and storytelling. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet talented quilters, learn about different quilting techniques, and even try their hand at weaving and quilting.
“This event is a celebration of our shared history and the artistry that thrives in our quilting community,” says Judy Borger, one of the event organizers. “We’re excited to welcome everyone to experience the beauty and warmth of quilting firsthand.”
In addition to the stunning quilt displays and educational activities, the event will feature live music in the park, local food vendors offering delicious treats and a quilt show with vendors at the high school where attendees can purchase unique quilting supplies and handmade crafts. Special speakers will be featured in the high school auditorium.
The Airing of the Quilts is made possible by the generous support of sponsors, volunteers and the passionate quilting community. It’s a testament to the enduring legacy of quilting as both an art form and a cherished tradition.
