HARRISBURG, March 6 – State Rep. Josh Siegel today announced that he has been appointed to serve on the PA House Appropriations Committee.
“This appointment is truly a great honor, and it comes with significant responsibilities,” said Siegel, D-Lehigh. “On this committee, I will be a part of the state budget process and consider the fiscal policies that will impact the lives of seniors, students, families, law enforcement, businesses and workers throughout Pennsylvania. With this position, I will be able to advocate not only for my district, but for all the taxpayers of the Commonwealth.”
In accordance with House rules, the Appropriations Committee evaluates legislative proposals for fiscal implications prior to voting a bill out of committee. The committee also plays a pivotal role in forming recommendations for budget and fiscal-related matters and is integrally involved in the annual budget process.
In addition to the state budget, the committee also has jurisdiction over the offices of Auditor General and State Treasurer and the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority.
Siegel currently is serving his first term representing the 22nd Legislative District, which includes parts of the city of Allentown and parts of Salisbury Township.
