The 2022 Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge was held today February 19th at Scott Park on Larry Holmes Drive in Easton. The fundraising event was held in support of Pennsylvania Special Olympics. The event is one of several plunges taking place statewide to raise money and awareness about Special Olympics programs. These programs enrich the lives of nearly 20,000 athletes across Pennsylvania. As of this evening the event has raised over ninety-two thousand dollars. You can still make donations by visiting the Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge site
It was an exciting morning filled with, free Wawa coffee & snacks, a costume contests, and hundreds of people just hanging out excitedly waiting to take a dip in the frigid Delaware river. For those passing through who did not know about the event it was quite the site to see. Many of the Polar Plungers had creative and interesting costumes. This is one of the most fun and well-organized events held in the Lehigh Valley. If you are on the fence about wanting to participate in a polar plunge this is the place for you to be next year, supporting a great cause while surrounded by great people. Mother nature joined in the folly by adding a touch of flurries before plungers made their way to the water. Check out all the fun by watching the slide show of over 100 photos from the event…
The Special Olympics provides athletes with intellectual disabilities access to free medical screenings and opportunities to socialize, build long-lasting friendships, become leaders, gain self-confidence and so much more.
