William Allen High School Announces Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony



 

Allentown, PA (January 19, 2016)   William Allen High School will add five members to the Allentown-William Allen Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony on Tuesday, January 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the J. Milo Sewards Gymnasium. The ceremony will take place between the Bethlehem Catholic and William Allen Girls/Boys Basketball Double-Header.

William Allen 2016 athlete inductees who have made an indelible mark on Canaries include:

  • Larry Seiple (’63) was a professional football player for the Miami Dolphins from 1967-1977 where he held the positions of punter, tight end, wide receiver and halfback. During his time as a Dolphin player, the team won two Super Bowl Championships. He was Assistant Coach for University of Miami (1978-1979); Wide Receivers Coach for the Detroit Lions (1980-1984); Wide Receivers Coach for Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1985-86); and Quarterbacks Coach and Wide Receivers Coach for Miami Dolphins (1988-1999). From 2001 – 2004, Seiple was the Offensive Coordinator for Florida Atlantic University.
  • Anne Wenninger (’73) was William Allen’s Field Hockey Head Coach, 1978-1996 (232-98-36). Wenninger guided the team to victory at the 1988 District XI and EPC Field Hockey Championships. She was also the Coach for Boys and Girls Volleyball, and was Assistant Girls Basketball Coach during her time at William Allen.
  • Joe Wolf (’84), a professional football player, was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft. He played for the Cardinals from 1989-1997 as an offensive lineman and started in 60 games. During his time at Allen he was an All-State football player as well as lettered in basketball and track and field.
  • Raymond Barbosa (’03) is William Allen’s Boys Basketball All-Time Leading Scorer with 2,202 points and an All-State basketball player. He had a very successful college basketball career playing for James Madison University (2003-2006), then transferred to University of Maryland Baltimore County (2007-2008) during the time the team made it to the NCAA tournament. For five years Barbosa played professional basketball in Puerto Rico. He is currently the Head Coach for Boys Basketball at Bethlehem Catholic High School.
  • Ebony Barbosa (’05) was a 2005 Pennsylvania Volleyball Association 1st Team All-State selection. During her time at William Allen she scored more than 800 points in basketball and lettered in track and field. She continued to play college volleyball at Youngstown State University, Ohio, where she received a full athletic scholarship. Barbosa was a four-year starter for the Youngstown Penguins.

The ceremony is slated to follow the Bethlehem Catholic vs. William Allen Girls Basketball Game which begins at 5:00 p.m. Inductees and special guests will be escorted to Center Court for the presentation. The Boys Basketball Game will tip off twenty minutes after the conclusion of the induction ceremony.

A 2016 Hall of Fame Reception will be held in William Allen’s Cafeteria Annex at 8:15 p.m.

William Allen High School is located at 106 North 17th Street, Allentown. Entrance to the J. Milo Sewards Gymnasium is on Turner Street.
