December 9, 2020, Allentown, PA – Serving the children of the third largest urban school district in Pennsylvania, the Allentown School District Foundation (ASDF) Board of Directors voted, at its board meeting on December 3, to appoint The Hon. Rashid O. Santiago to the board, which now stands at 19 volunteer members. “The Allentown School District Foundation welcomes Rashid,” says Daniel C. Bosket, ASDF President. “As a child, Rashid attended three ASD elementary schools and is a lifelong Allentown resident. He brings an urban perspective, which coupled with his judicial experience, will greatly benefit the ASDF. The judge’s commitment to Allentown’s youth is apparent in all the volunteer work he has done over the years.”
The Hon. Rashid Santiago – ASDF Board Member Background
Santiago is a magisterial district judge with the Pennsylvania Judiciary: Lehigh County District Court 31-1-02 since January 2014. He had interned in the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office while in law school before serving as law clerk to the Hon. John A. Roccabella in the Berks County Court of Common Pleas of PA, Criminal Division, from 2011-2013. He is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey and is a member of the Bar Association of Lehigh County and The Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania. Santiago graduated cum laude from Gwynedd Mercy College with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and earned his juris degree from Widener University School of Law in 2010. Currently, he teaches criminal justice as an adjunct instructor at the Lehigh Carbon Community College and is a coach for the Allentown Youth Soccer Club. In the past, he was a youth basketball coach with various community organizations, including the William Allen Canaries and the Penn State University Lehigh Valley Campus team.
