Country star returns to the festival Aug. 8 with his country hits and classics from Hootie & the Blowfish
BETHLEHEM, PA–Multi-platinum country star and Hootie & the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker is the first performer announced for Musikfest’s 37th year, headlining the festival Sat., Aug. 8, 7 p.m., at the Wind Creek Steel Stage. Tickets for the show are $39-$79 and go on sale Tues., Dec. 10, starting at 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members, and Fri., Dec. 13, 10 a.m., to the public at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378. Returning to Musikfest after headlining the festival in 2013 and 2015, Rucker has had four No.1 albums on the Billboard Country charts and nine No. 1 singles on country radio since releasing his first country album in 2008. In 2014, he won his third career GRAMMY Award for Best Solo Country Performance for his platinum-selling cover of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.”
Most recently, Rucker completed a 44-city tour with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates as they celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their mega-hit album Cracked Rear View, as well as the release of Imperfect Circle, their first album in nearly 15 years. The Group Therapy Tour was the band’s first full-scale tour in more than a decade.
The Darius Rucker concert is presented by Capital BlueCross, in association with media partners Cat Country 96 and 69-WFMZ-TV. One of the largest music festivals in the nation, Musikfest features more than 500 performances on 17 stages throughout Bethlehem over 10 days.
