Event to raise money for nonprofit ArtsQuest during Oktoberfest festival
BETHLEHEM, PA. – Runners and beer lovers rejoice! Registration will open Tuesday, April 3, at 12 p.m., for the fifth annual Yuengling Oktoberfest 5K, a run/walk through historic Bethlehem for 2,500 enthusiasts on Sunday, Oct. 7. This year’s race will feature a brand new kids’ dash, team registration, costume contest, a scenic course and traditional Bavarian entertainment as part of the Oktoberfest celebration taking place at SteelStacks Oct. 5-7 and 12-14.
Participants can run, jog or walk their way along the 5K course while being treated to authentic, themed elements including a spinning, shoe-slapping spectacle from G.T.V. Almrausch, one of the oldest traditional German dance troupes in North America. The race begins and ends on the Oktoberfest grounds, which features German food and music, as well as popular dachshund races, delicious beer at the Craft Brewers’ Village and more.
All who register for the race will receive a 5K tech shirt, an official Yuengling Oktoberfest beer stein/mug, free race photos and a complimentary Yuengling Oktoberfest 24-ounce beer voucher redeemable Oct. 7.
“We worked closely with D.G Yuengling & Son and ArtsQuest to lay out a beautiful course with the opening of the Fahy Bridge, and enhance the amenities for racers, and we’ve got a great collector’s mug for runners to enjoy their complimentary Yuengling Oktoberfest beer,” says Carrie Conway, operations director of CK Running, the event organizer. “We’re especially proud to continue our support of a wonderful organization like ArtsQuest.”
A portion of the proceeds from every 5K registration will go directly to ArtsQuest to help fund its mission of engaging and revitalizing communities in the Lehigh Valley through arts programs and cultural events. Anyone who’s interested will also be able to fundraise additionally.
“ArtsQuest is excited to once again partner with D.G. Yuengling & Son and CK Running on this unique experience for our region,” says ArtsQuest Chief Operating Officer Curt Mosel. “Participation in this event grows with each passing year, making it one of the highlights of Oktoberfest. Plus, a portion of all proceeds goes to support our free programming at the festival and other events at SteelStacks throughout the year.”
The Yuengling Oktoberfest 5K race will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the ArtsQuest Center on the Oktoberfest grounds at SteelStacks. For more details about the event and to register for the Oktoberfest 5K, visit oktoberfestrace.com.
