Trainings will improve experiences for LGBT youth in Upper Bucks County Pennsylvania

ALLENTOWN, PA — The Training Institute at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, which frequently provides training on LGBT issues for educators, health care professionals, law enforcement, and social service agencies, today announced a new grant they received from the Edwin J. & Gertrude K. Neusch Fund, a charitable fund of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation. The grant makes it possible for Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center to provide training on LGBT issues for educators in Upper Bucks County.

“In order for the LGBT community throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley to thrive, the experiences we have in the world around us need to be grounded in respect and dignity. LGBT youth frequently encounter negative experiences in schools and other youth-serving organizations and with this grant, we will get to work training educators in Upper Bucks County to provide high-quality, culturally appropriate services for LGBT youth. We are grateful for the generous support from Edwin J. & Gertrude K. Neusch Fund for making this possible ” said Adrian Shanker, Executive Director.
Liz Bradbury, Director of The Training Institute, added, “We are proud to bring our expertise in supporting LGBT youth to educators in Upper Bucks County. It’s been our experience that most educators, schools, and youth-serving organizations want to support LGBT youth but some don’t have the appropriate language, cultural context, or resources to provide the support that is needed.”
