The Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct two public meetings to gather input for developing a master plan for Andre Reed Park.
The first session will be held on Tuesday, March 13, beginning at 6:30 pm at Dieruff High School. A second public meeting is scheduled to be held at the park on Tuesday, May 8, also beginning at 6:30 pm.
“Public participation and input is a critical part of the planning process,” said Allentown Parks & Recreation Department Director Lindsay Taylor. “We want to hear from parks users both young and old and from the neighbors to get an idea of what they want in the park.”
The purpose of the master plan is to develop a plan for the park that will consider management issues related to the park’s active recreational facilities, including the basketball courts, aquatic facility, tennis courts and athletic fields; its relationship with-and use-by Dieruff High School, and the vision of the surrounding community.
Taylor said, “This vision will be the framework for the park’s use and development over the next 20 to 30 years.”
Information on the project will be available on a kiosk located in the park, on the City Parks & Recreation Department’s webpages and on Facebook. Residents interested in additional information can call the Department of Parks & Recreation at 610-437-7750 or email Lindsay.Taylor@allentownpa.gov
