CONCERTS SITES MOVED
West Park is the new site for two band concerts coming up in the City of Allentown this month.
Lucky 7 will close out the Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation 2017 Saturday in the Park concert series at West Park on Saturday, September 9 from 7pm to 9pm. That is a change from the originally announced location of Cedar Beach Park.
The Marine Band concert, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 16 at 6pm at Union Terrace Park, will also be held at West Park.
Lucky 7, formed in the 1990’s, is one of the Lehigh Valley’s premier funk/dance bands. The group has opened for many national acts as well as being a fan favorite at many Casino, Festival, and private events!
Lucky 7 is an 11 piece funk band featuring the Casino horns and performing all of your favorite dance and funk music from the 60’s through modern favorites!
The Band members include Doug Bitting on keyboards/vocals, Mel Shannon “Jr” on the drums/vocals, Lady T and Malcolm Stewart on the lead vocals, Robert Youngblood on bass/vocals, Ron Galasso on Latin percussion, and Ed McCartan on guitar. The Casino Horns consist of Bob Sedlock Jr. playing the trumpet, Bob Moser on the trumpet, trombone and saxophone, and Bob Sedlock III on the trumpet.
The Couchpota-Doh food truck and the Perk Up truck will be there to sell refreshments.
The Marine Band of Allentown was formed in 1903. Some of its members have been playing with the band for more than 60 years. The band was scheduled to perform six outdoor concerts in the city this spring and summer, concluding with a Sunday, September 17 concert at 3pm also at West Park.
West Park is located from 15th – 16th Street between Linden and Turner streets.
