ArtsQuest’s Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas Announces Cinema in Sync: Film, Fellowship and Connection presented in partnership with Sync Recovery Community

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA. September 9, 2026 — Building on the success and enthusiastic response to SoberPlatz presented by Northampton County Council in partnership with Sync Recovery Community at Musikfest, ArtsQuest continues its mission of providing a welcoming community for everyone with programming at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas. ArtsQuest, in partnership with Sync Recovery Community, is launching Cinema in Sync: Film, Fellowship and Connection, a new free film series featuring stories of hope, resilience and transformation.

The series kicks off Monday, September 14. Each screening explores recovery through film, sparking conversation, challenging stigma and highlighting the power of recovery in individuals, families and communities.

Following each film, stay for an optional talk back with guest panelists. This supportive space offers an opportunity to share your thoughts, ask questions, connect with others or simply listen as we continue the conversation around recovery.

Screenings include:

  • September 14 – “The Anonymous People”
  • October 19 – “Generation Found”
  • November 16 – “Tipping the Pain Scale”

The theater hosting the film series will be maintained as a dedicated alcohol-free space. Alcohol may be available for purchase elsewhere throughout the ArtsQuest Campus at SteelStacks and the ArtsQuest Center.

“Cinema in Sync is about creating more than just a night at the movies—it’s an opportunity to connect, learn and build community,” said Laura Waits, Executive Director of Sync Recovery Community. “Through the partnership between Sync Recovery Community and ArtsQuest, we’re creating a welcoming, substance-free space where people can enjoy films while also gaining educational insight into recovery, wellness and the experiences that shape our communities. Recovery is stronger when we learn and grow together, and Cinema in Sync brings those important conversations to life.”
