A new grassroots organization will hold a March for Democracy as a resistance to the injustices being experienced by the American people since the year began, and to support ongoing efforts to save our democracy. Because our government has failed to hold the president and his accomplices accountable, it falls to “we the people” to do it. We do this with our voices, our dollars, and our determination.

Speakers are expected to include (in no particular order):

      • PA Representative Robert Freeman
      • Former Congresswoman Susan Wild
      • Melba Tolliver, pioneering African-American journalist, news anchor and reporter for WABC-TV in New York City
      • Baron Vanderburg, community leader, and director of inclusion, access and diversity initiatives for a local college
      • Easton Mayor Sal Panto, Jr.
      • Christopher Black, a historian and reenactor, who will read the preamble to the Constitution

A food drive benefiting ProJeCt Easton’s food pantry will also be held as part of the event. Marchers are encouraged to bring donations to drop off at the collection table in Centre Square. Requested items include dried pasta, cereal, pancake mix, and syrup.

Also, a bake sale fundraiser will be held to benefit the Third Street Alliance for Women & Children in downtown Easton. Cash-only donations will be accepted for donated baked goods made by volunteers with the Palmer Moravian Church.

Marchers are invited to meet in Centre Square at noon; the program with speakers will begin at 12:15 pm and is expected to last approximately 30 minutes, followed by the march around the circle on the sidewalk. (No roads will be closed for this event.)
