Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie representing the Greater Lehigh Valley (PA-07), reintroduced the DHS Intelligence Rotational Assignment Program and Law Enforcement Support Act. This legislation aims to strengthen the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) intelligence-sharing capabilities by establishing an Intelligence Rotational Assignment Program. The program will enable DHS analysts to participate in temporary assignments across various intelligence components within the department, broadening their skills, enhancing organizational knowledge, and fostering professional growth.

“As a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, I recognize the critical importance of seamless information sharing among our intelligence professionals,” said Congressman Mackenzie. “By reintroducing this legislation, I aim to promote a more unified and effective approach to safeguarding our nation.”

“Securing our homeland requires a coordinated intelligence community within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). I proudly support the DHS Intelligence Rotational Assignment Program and Law Enforcement Support Act,” said Congressman Guest. “This effort would enhance information sharing and improve our response to evolving threats, helping to keep Americans safe.”

Key provisions of the bill include:

  • Establishment of the Intelligence Rotational Assignment Program: Within one year of enactment, DHS is required to implement the program as part of its existing Rotation Program.
  • Eligibility: Open to analysts serving in intelligence positions across DHS components, including the U.S. Secret Service’s Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information of the United States Secret Service, and other positions as determined appropriate by the Secretary of Homeland Security.
  • Coordination: Ensuring the program aligns with DHS’s broader goals of promoting a comprehensive understanding of various intelligence missions and functions across the department.
