Mayor Ed Pawlowski is proclaiming Tuesday, April 12, 2016 Everyone Matters Day in the city of Allentown.
Pawlowski joins more than 60 mayors from around the globe in affirming every resident’s unique contribution to their city’s vitality, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and London Mayor Boris Johnson.
In issuing the proclamation, Pawlowski said, “Allentown celebrates diversity, individuality and respect for each resident and embraces the people of the community for who they are and affirms that all residents contribute their own unique individuality to what makes our city enriched culturally and vital.”
According to a news release from the non-profit Everybody Matters, the organization “was launched in fall 2012 as an advocacy for everyone’s right to be who they are, regardless of gender, age, weight, skin color, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical limitations – combined with an empowering message affirming individuality, self-acceptance and pride-in-identity.”
