HARRISBURG, Nov. 14 – New funding of $15,000 will allow a Lehigh County-based early learning center to strengthen child nutrition and hands-on agricultural education, state Rep. Josh Siegel announced today.
Siegel said the funding to Kiddie City Early Learning Center will help improve access to healthy, local food and increase hands-on learning for children at this center.
“This funding is not only an investment into our children’s health, but also an investment in our farmers,” Siegel said. “This ensures that our children will have healthy food choices and that our farmers will benefit from supplying those healthy food choices.”
The funding is part of the PA Farm Bill Farm-to-School Grants that connect local farmers to schools to supply fresh, in-season products to be served in cafeterias, expanding market opportunities for farmers. Other projects support school gardens, field trips and other hands-on agriculture education, enriching early awareness of career opportunities.
