Allentown, PA (Special) — The start of the Fall 2023 semester at Northampton Community College will see a major enhancement to the commuting needs of students, faculty, and staff at the college. LANTA’s two new Enhanced Bus Service (EBS) Rapid Transit routes now provide 15-minute departures and arrivals at the new Southside Station on Third Street, right in front of the Fowler Family Southside Center.
Both EBS routes serve the Center, with the Blue Line running between Easton and Trexlertown, and the Green Line running from Wind Creek Casino to Whitehall. Both routes stop at the Bethlehem Transportation Center at Broad and Guetter Streets which provides easy transfers to several LANTA routes. Also, Route 323, which runs between south Bethlehem and Center Valley, is also served by the Southside Station providing additional opportunities for transfers.
As a bonus to Fowler riders the buses stop at the eighty-foot-long bus shelter, which has been a part of the building since 1939 when it historically served Bethlehem Steel workers. Modern signage and future amenities are planned for the site.
“LANTA is happy to have NCC’s Fowler Family Center as a major destination for our new Rapid Transit service,” said AJ Jordan, Manager of Planning and Scheduling. “Our relationship with the college has always been great, including permitting LANTA buses to enter Main Campus, eliminating commuters’ long walks from bus stops to campus,” he added.
